Established wealth & families
Pass on what you built — intentionally
Life insurance can create liquidity for estate costs, equalize inheritances, and move wealth to the next generation efficiently. It works best when it's designed alongside your estate plan.
Who this is for
Families with significant or illiquid assets — businesses, real estate, concentrated stock — and the attorneys and CPAs who advise them.
See how this applies to entrepreneurs and executives & established wealth.
The problem
Estates heavy in illiquid assets can force heirs to sell at the wrong time to cover taxes, debts, or equalization between children. Without coordination, policies can also end up inside the taxable estate.
How it works
- Your estate attorney defines the plan; we identify where liquidity or transfer funding is needed.
- Coverage is often owned by an irrevocable life insurance trust (ILIT) so proceeds stay outside the taxable estate.
- Survivorship (second-to-die) policies can fund obligations that arise after both spouses pass.
- Policies are reviewed periodically as tax law and family circumstances change.
Common use cases
- Providing liquidity so heirs don't have to sell a family business or real estate
- Equalizing inheritances between children active and inactive in the business
- Funding charitable intentions while preserving family inheritance
- Starting early transfer to the next generation
Important considerations
- Trust ownership, gifting, and estate tax planning require qualified legal and tax counsel.
- Transferring existing policies may trigger a three-year look-back under IRC §2035.
- Large face amounts involve detailed financial and medical underwriting.
- Estate tax exemption levels are subject to change by law.
